Inc. $1,410,399.39 <br /> O'Grady Paving, Inc. $1,414,260.10 <br /> Engineer's Estimate $1,401 ,170.00 <br /> The low bid was determined based on the Total Base Bid. The total base bid of <br /> $1,370,273.48 from Granite Rock Company is approximately 2% lower than the <br /> engineer's estimate of $1,401 ,170.00 for the cost of construction. Based upon the bids <br /> received, staff believes that the low bid of $1,370,273.48 is reasonable and responsive, <br /> and recommends awarding the contract to Granite Rock Company. <br /> Construction is anticipated to begin in late September or early October 2014, and <br /> conclude in November 2014. Notification of the proposed work will be mailed to area <br /> residents, property owners, business owners, and schools in early September 2014. <br /> The contractor is required to distribute additional notice 14 days in advance of the start <br /> of work in their immediate area. Updates on the progress of construction will be <br /> available on the city's website. <br /> ALTERNATIVES <br /> Council may choose not to award the construction contract and direct staff to redesign <br /> and/or rebid this project. <br /> FISCAL IMPACT <br /> Funds for Street Pavement Management Programs have been previously approved and <br /> appropriated with an available balance of $1 ,320,715.25 in the Transportation Fund and <br /> $1,571 ,117.87 in the Gas Tax Construction Fund, as of June 30, 2014. <br /> ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW <br /> As the lead agency, City of Redwood City has determined that the 2013-2014 Asphalt <br /> Rubber Chip Seal and Spot Repair Project meets the CEQA exemption criteria as set <br /> forth in Section 15301 , ("Existing Facilities"). Furthermore, this project has been <br /> designed complaint with the city's Engineering Standards and accepted practices. <br />
