f <br /> 9.A. - Page 22 <br /> CHAPTER2v <br /> San Carlos Airport and Environs <br /> 2.1 AirporMettingv <br /> San Carlos Airport is located on the San Francisco Bay Peninsula approximately 20 miles south <br /> of the City of San Francisco and two miles northeast of the City of San Carlos' central business <br /> district in San Mateo County. The 160-acre airport is located west of the San Francisco Bay at <br /> five feet above mean sea level(MSL). As shown on Exhibiti2-1,U.S. Highway 101 is located <br /> west of the Airport and provides primary highway access to the airport via Redwood Shores <br /> Parkway. Redwood Shores Parkway runs east-west along the northern boundary of the Airport <br /> and intersects Airport Drive which provides direct access to the airport terminal building and <br /> other facilities on the north side of the Airport. The west side of the Airport can be accessed via <br /> Skyway Road,which intersects Airport Drive immediately north of the Airport. <br /> San Carlos Airport is owned and operated by San Mateo County(Public Works,Airports <br /> Division).The Airport accommodates almost 400 based aircraft and a variety of aviation-related <br /> businesses including flight schools. <br /> San Carlos Airport is designated as a reliever airport in the National Plan of Integrated Airport <br /> Systems(NPIAS).
