C <br /> (f) Any lease of real property .for a: term of more <br /> than one (1) calendar month shall be authorized by resolution <br /> of the Council or the Board of Port Commissioners as the <br /> case may be. Any lease of real property for a lesser period <br /> shall be authorized by the City Council or the Board of Port <br /> Commissioners, as the case may be, by motion duly made and <br /> carried. <br /> (g) No lease of City or Port property shall be made <br /> for a term longer than fifty (50) years. <br /> (h) No city property shall be exchanged for other <br /> property until an appraisal has been made by the City <br /> Assessor and the value of the property to be received by <br /> the city equals or exceeds the value of the property to be <br /> disposed of by the City. " <br /> (b) Said Charter amendment proposal shall be submitted to the <br /> electors of the City of Redwood City at the General Municipal Election <br /> to be held in the City on April 11, 1978, in the form of a proposal <br /> to amend said Charter by amending Section 3-1/2 thereof. On the <br /> ballots and on the voting machines to be used at said election, in <br /> addition to all other matters required by law to be printed thereon, <br /> shall appear the following: <br /> PROPOSITION A: Shall Section 3-1/2 of the Charter <br /> of the City of Redwood City be amended <br /> to allow the City to sell City-owned personal property <br /> valued at $1,000 or less for any reasonable amount, <br /> without public notice or bid? <br /> SECTION 4. (a) The Council of Redwood City hereby proposes, <br /> on its own motion, to amend the Charter of the City of Redwood City <br /> by amending Sections 3-1/2 and 48a thereof as follows: <br /> (1) Amend Section 3-1/2 to read as follows: <br /> "SECTION 3-1/2. ACQUISITION AND DISPOSAL OF PROPERTY: <br /> "Public notice shall be given by publication in the <br /> official newspaper once at least five (5) days prior to <br /> the acquisition of any real property when the purchase <br /> price to be paid by the city equals or exceeds the sum <br /> of two thousand dollars ($2, 000) , unless such acquisition <br /> is to be accomplished pursuant to the general laws of the <br /> State by condemnation in eminent domain proceedings, or <br /> unless such acquisition is necessary in connection with <br /> public improvement proceedings accomplished pursuant to law. <br /> "Any sale or lease of city owned property, except leases <br /> of property under the jurisdiction of the Board of Port Com- <br /> missioners, shall be accomplished in accordance with the <br /> following procedure: <br /> -4- <br />
