Increase student and family knowledge of safe pedestrian and cycling practices <br /> Activities <br /> a) Support schools with the scheduling and hosting of Safe Routes to School <br /> Educational programs <br /> b) Provide direct bicycle and pedestrian education to students through workshops <br /> and rodeos <br /> c) Provide direct education to parents through workshops on safe walking, cycling, <br /> and driving behaviors <br /> d) Implement the Spokes program to teach interested students about bicycle safety <br /> and maintenance <br /> 2. Increase the number of volunteers and the capacity of volunteers to facilitate <br /> program implementation <br /> Activities <br /> a) Engage parent volunteers through outreach and encouragement activities <br /> b) Acquire and provide program materials to parent volunteers <br /> c) Provide formal program training to all parent volunteers <br /> 3. Increase awareness of the benefits of physical activity to overall health <br /> Activities <br /> a) Encourage student participation in Safe Routes to School opportunities to get active <br /> such as International Walk to School Day <br /> b) Provide direct education to students and parents about the health-related benefits of <br /> increased physical activity <br /> 4.
