Introduction <br /> Planning Director Patterson introduced the evening's speakers and described the <br /> purpose and schedule for the Westport Development. <br /> B. Description of Project <br /> Architectural Consultant Ken Rodriguez described the proposed Westport <br /> Development, 980,000 sq. ft. office and research/development complex, at <br /> 601-701 Marine Parkway. <br /> C. Why Approved <br /> Planning Director Patterson provided background on why previous Councils <br /> approved development on the site. <br /> D. Specific Plan <br /> '. I <br />: 1) Health and Safety issues <br />I - <br /> Planning Director Patterson and Senior Planner Passanisi described the <br /> following health and safety issues: the appeal of the Supplemental EIR, the Health <br /> Risk Assessment,all the different tests done, including the EPA, the developer and <br /> the County. In response to staff and Council questions, County Officers Zamora, <br /> Morrow and Peterson, and Steve Ripple of ChemRisk described the testing and <br /> the state and county approval of the process and results. <br /> City Attorney Schricker noted that the appellants were in the audience, and <br /> advised the Council that neither the staff nor the consultants would or should <br /> engage in advocacy; that only facts were to be presented without conclusions at this <br /> study session. After Council hears the appellants on January 16, 1995, and all the <br /> evidence had been submitted, then the Council would be asked to make a <br /> determination based on facts. <br /> 2) Traffic <br /> Planning Director Patterson and Senior Planner Passanisi described the traffic <br /> situation after Westport is completed, and after buildout in the Redwood Shores <br /> I neighborhood.
