TO : ' Parks and Recreation Commission FROM : Redwood Shores Committee - Chairperson Pound DATE : February 22 , 1977 SUBJECT : REVIEW OF PARK NAMES - REDWOOD SHORES The Redwood Shores Committee met on February 22 , 1977 . Those present were Commissioners Pound , Knecht and Buckhout . The Redwood Shores Committee met to review the various names for the several Redwood Shores park areas which apparently evolved from the sub-divisions in the early stages of the development of the Redwood Shores area . Many of the small areas have names which have no real relationship to their location and are difficult to identify to the park patrons . Additionally , many do not conform to the adopted park naming policy and , therefore , should be changed , which will result in better identification for the park user . The Committee agreed that various names would be suggested to the Commission for discussion , after which recommendations would be made to the City Council for officially naming the park area . The Committee reviewed the map of the Redwood Shores area and the various names that have been assigned to the park areas over the years . This review resulted in the following proposed park names : 1 . Park area at north west corner of Marine World Parkway and Bridge Parkway . Present name - Aquas Park - better known as Water Access Park . Change to - Marine View Park . 2 . Park area located at Lanyard Drive and Quay Lane . Present name - Westbridge Park , presently called - Dolphin III Park . Change to - Portside Park . 3 . Park area at Compass Drive and Starboard Drive . Present name - Vista Park . Change to - Starboard Park . 4 . Park area at Bark Drive and Starboard Drive . Present name - Marlin Park . Change to - Mariner ' s Point Park . 5 . Park area between Trident Drive , Neptune Drive , Compass Drive extending to Cringle Drive . Present name - Marlin Park . No change . - 12-
