The Housing Element is one of <br /> seven required elements of the General Plan. It addresses existing and future housing needs of persons in all economic <br /> segment groups and serves as a tool for decision - makers and the public in understanding and meeting housing needs in <br /> Redwood City. The proposed Housing Element addresses future residential development to meet the Regional Housing <br /> Needs Allocation (RHNA) for the 2014 -2022 planning period, consistent with adopted land use policy. The Housing <br /> Element is a policy document and does not authorize any particular design, plan, or project proposing construction of new <br /> or redevelopment residential units. <br /> PROJECT IMPACTS: The environmental analysis provided in the Initial Study indicates that the proposed project will not <br /> have a significant adverse effect on the environment as the proposed Housing Element does not involve physical <br /> development, require any construction or demolition activities, or change any land use designation or zoning district in a <br /> manner that could lead to increased residential densities or intensities beyond that which is supported by the existing <br /> General Plan Built Environment Element. <br /> PUBLIC REVIEW PERIOD: Begins: August 22, 2014 Ends: September 22, 2014 <br /> PUBLIC HEARING: Public hearings will be held before the Redwood City Planning Commission on September 16, 2014 <br /> and the City Council on October 20, 2014 in the Council Chambers, 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA 90463. <br /> Both meetings are at 7:00 P.M. <br /> The Initial Study /Negative Declaration is being circulated for public review and comment for a period of 30 days. Any <br /> person may submit written comments to the Planning Division before the end of the review period. If you challenge the <br /> City's action in court, you may be limited to raising only those issues you or someone else raised in written <br /> correspondence delivered to the Community Development Department prior to the end of the review period.
