7.1.F. - Page 1 <br /> REPORT <br /> To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br /> From the City Manager <br /> October 20, 2014 <br /> SUBJECT <br /> Purchase of one (1) 2015 Ford F450 Super Cab Pick -Up Truck <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Approve, by motion, the purchase of one (1) 2015 Ford F450 Super Cab Pick -Up Truck <br /> in the amount of $107,595.25 from Towne Ford of Redwood City, CA. <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> Redwood City's Fleet Replacement Program is designed to provide a structure for <br /> evaluating vehicles and equipment in order to replace them at the most economically <br /> advantageous point in their life cycle. At pre -set intervals vehicles and equipment <br /> undergo a thorough evaluation including, but not limited to, age, mileage, condition, <br /> maintenance history, downtime, anticipated future repairs, usage and vehicle <br /> capabilities. <br /> ANALYSIS <br /> The Redwood City Water Utility Section currently utilizes a 2003 Ford F450 utility truck <br /> to respond to water leaks 365 days a year. The vehicle is scheduled for replacement in <br /> the current Fiscal Year. The existing utility truck should be replaced with a 2015 Ford <br /> F450 Diesel 4X2 DRW Super Cab Pick -Up Truck to meet the rigorous demands of the <br /> Water Utility Section's assignments. The Notice Inviting Bids for one (1) 2015 Ford F450 <br /> Diesel 4X2 DRW Super Cab Pick -Up Truck was sent to several local dealerships and <br /> the following responses were received. <br /> Bidder Bid Amount <br /> Towne Ford (Redwood City, CA) $107,595.25 <br /> Hansel Ford (Santa Rosa, CA) $109,395.50 <br /> Mission Valley Ford (San Jose, CA) No response <br /> Salinas Valley Ford (Salinas, CA) No response <br /> As a result, staff recommends that the City purchase the vehicle from Towne <br /> Ford of Redwood City. <br />
