7.1.A. - Page 1 <br /> REPORT <br /> To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br /> From the City Manager <br /> November 3, 2014 <br /> SUBJECT <br /> Final Acceptance — 2013 -2014 Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation Project <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> By motion, accept the 2013 -2014 Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation Project and authorize the <br /> release of retention according to City procedures. <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> On March 24, 2014, Council awarded the construction contract for the 2013 -2014 Sewer <br /> Rehabilitation Project to Casey Construction, Inc., of Emerald Hills, California for a price of <br /> $829,516.00. The project scope included rehabilitation of 4,456 linear feet of 6 -inch existing <br /> VCP pipes with CIPP liner, rehabilitation of 23 existing sanitary sewer manholes, <br /> replacement of 134 existing VCP sanitary sewer laterals with HDPE pipes by pipe <br /> bursting method, pavement restoration and other associated work. <br /> ANALYSIS <br /> Project construction commenced in April 2014 and achieved final completion in August <br /> 2014. Final walkthrough was conducted with PWS staff and punch list items were <br /> completed by the end of September 2014. The project was successfully completed in <br /> accordance with the plans and specifications and within the timeframe allowed by <br /> contract. The final contract amount is $766,716.00 which is 7.57 % lower than the initially <br /> awarded contract amount. Adjustments in bid quantities (additions and deletions) <br /> resulted to a deductive change order amounting to $62,800.00 <br /> ALTERNATIVES <br /> Council may choose not to accept the project or authorize the release of retention which <br /> would be contrary to the terms of the contract, prior Council action, and public <br /> contracting code. <br /> FISCAL IMPACT <br /> Sufficient funding for the work of this contract was previously appropriated as Sewer <br /> Fund Capital Projects — Sewer Rehab Program. <br /> ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW <br /> As the lead agency, City of Redwood City has determined that acceptance of the 2013- <br />
