7.1.C. - Page 6 <br /> Another Council Member said that she was so honored to hear the comments tonight <br /> and not just the "needs" but also the "pride ". She added that what she sees tonight is <br /> that the community has given the Council homework and areas to work on. She said the <br /> Council heard the community loud and clear, and the stories are motivating to the <br /> Council and she is grateful. One other Council Member said that he really appreciated <br /> that people came tonight and spoke and addressed the Council, and he is so proud for <br /> those who came forward and volunteer and those who are serving tirelessly and these <br /> are the true heroes of our community. He said that the partnerships are amazing and he <br /> is hopeful that more will emerge because together we can solve these issues. One <br /> other Council Member said that people are always welcome at City Hall and he <br /> encouraged people to reach out to the Council and stay involved. <br /> Vice Mayor Foust thanked the speakers for the tone, respect and graciousness used on <br /> telling the Council their needs and thanking the Council. She said this is a very unusual <br /> situation for the City Council i.e., to get gratitude without aggressiveness, and so she <br /> said that tonight the Council received something very special and the Council heard the <br /> community and the Council will work on it. She thanked Ms. Teri Chin for her work and <br /> she expressed her heartfelt respect and appreciation for all Ms. Chin does for the <br /> community. She is a true team player and partners with myriad people. <br /> Mayor Gee thanked everyone for spending time with the Council and sharing their <br /> stories, and he said that Council has homework to do but the Council is committed to <br /> addressing it. He asked that the community be aware that these issues are regional <br /> issues, and neighboring cities need to be partners in the solution. He said that for the <br /> last 20 years Redwood City has been a true provider of housing at all levels. He said <br /> that it will get addressed by Redwood City, but other cities need to be part of the <br /> solution. He asked the community to stay involved and he said that is why the Council <br /> wanted to come to them. He thanked all the speakers as well as Ms. Chin and Ms. <br /> Vonderlinden and her team, for arranging for this meeting. He also thanked all the <br /> Department Heads and his City Council colleagues.
