7.1.C. - Page 8 <br /> 5. SPECIAL ORDER(S) OF THE DAY <br /> A. Housing Endowment and Regional Trust (Heart) Presentation - Paula <br /> Stinson, Director of Development and Communications <br /> Ms. Stinson provided the presentation (presentation on file) and Ms. Joann McEntire <br /> provided a testimony of her experience with HEART. Ms. Stinson covered HEART's <br /> mission, programs, the Annual Report, and the various projects in Redwood City. She <br /> provided quantifiable data regarding completed projects in Redwood City. <br /> The Council thanked Ms. Stinson for the presentation. One Council Member asked for <br /> further information regarding HEART working with for profit development. Ms. Stinson <br /> said that the plan is to offer investments through a joint ventures approach and this will <br /> be part of one of the future upcoming initiatives. She said that this is a new area but <br /> HEART welcomes developers and cities to approach HEART with different <br /> opportunities. Subsequently, this same Council Member inquired about how Ms. <br /> McEntire found a home through HEART program. Ms. McEntire said that persistence <br /> paid off because her and her husband looked at 150 homes, but then found the right <br /> one in the correct price range thanks to the HEART program. <br /> B. Recognition of San Mateo County - John L. Maltbie, County Manager <br /> and Provident Credit Union - Wayne Bunker, President and Chief <br /> Executive Officer, for their Employer Sponsored Day Care programs - <br /> Jeffrey Gee, Mayor <br /> Mayor Gee recognized the County of San Mateo County, via John Maltbie — County <br /> Manager, for its contributions in providing leadership employer- sponsored childcare and <br /> contributing to work -life balance, reducing driving, and allowing more flexibility for <br /> workers.. Mr. Maltbie said that it has been over 20 years since their facility opened Our <br /> Place at the County and he thinks of all the things over the years that the County has <br /> done he gets the most positive feedback about this site. He said that it is an Accredited <br /> facility every three years and it is somewhat subsidized and he is pleased with the <br /> partnership. <br /> Vice Mayor Foust added her thanks to Mr. Maltbie noting that her two children were <br /> cared for at the County's site. She also noted that Redwood City's Child Care <br /> Coordinator Kristen Anderson is present in the audience. <br /> 6. PUBLIC COMMENT <br /> Connie Guerrero, representing Circulo Cultural, came to thank the community, the <br /> Library Foundation, the San Mateo History Museum, and many sponsors for their <br /> support of the Celebration of the Day of the Dead, also known as the Dia de los <br /> Muertos, at Courthouse Square this past Sunday. She reported that there were <br /> apparently between 2,600 and 2,900 attendees that got to see the altars, learn about <br /> Dia de los Muertos, dress in costume, and enjoy food and music.
