7.1.C. - Page 12 <br /> M/S Foust/Pierce to set the Public Hearing for November 17, 2014. Motion carried by <br /> unanimous electronic vote. <br /> 10. MATTERS OF COUNCIL INTEREST <br /> A. City Council Member Reports of Conferences Attended <br /> Council Member Bain reported on substituting at a Dumbarton Rail Corridor <br /> Subcommittee meeting and these are the "takeaways ": there was a directional motion to <br /> continue such group but reducing the number of members, due to quorum issues, <br /> exploring funding mechanisms, and continue efforts to place passenger Rail in the <br /> Corridor. He also explained how Measure BB from Alameda County is tied to this group. <br /> He added that specific next steps will be determined by this regional subcommittee. <br /> Council Member Bain also reported that he and Council Member Howard are part of the <br /> Public Art subcommittee and he was happy to report that they are moving forward with <br /> the Utility Box program. He is confident the Council will like it and he gave details about <br /> the program and he is excited about this initiative. <br /> Council Member Pierce reported that she was briefed by Shamus Murphy and Kasey <br /> from the CalTrain Modernization Group regarding height of the platforms and <br /> compatibility. She found this very educational and this is a subject that is prone to a lot <br /> of debate and she found that Shamus and Kasey are putting a lot of due diligence on <br /> this matter. <br /> Vice Mayor Foust said that she also had a recent briefing like Council Member Pierce <br /> and it was fascinating to see how three counties work together. She is also a participant <br /> and an auditor of the Stanford Entrepreneurial Boot Camp and she is so impressed with <br /> the speakers, the homework, teachers and the various modules. She said that the City <br /> now has 30 ambassadors who want to promote this program and she gave kudos to this <br /> Council for negotiating the Stanford Agreement that included this kind of educational <br /> program. <br /> Mayor Gee thanked the City Clerk Vonderlinden and her team and Teri Chin for their <br /> hard work in hosting the Town Hall meeting on October 30, 2014 as the meeting was <br /> both to celebrate the Fair Oaks Community Center 40 Anniversary and there were <br /> over 100 people in the audience. Mayor Gee asked everyone to vote as tomorrow is <br /> Election Day. He also acknowledged receipt of a letter from a senior Woodside High <br /> School student who wants to alert everyone littering in our roadways is a concern. He <br /> also announced the planting of the trees this Friday at 12:00 noon at Stafford Park. He <br /> acknowledged all the donors and provided the trees. <br /> B. City Council Committee Reports <br /> C. City Manager (Oral) Update <br /> Dr. Bell, City Manager, reported that the Housing Element was certified and he <br /> congratulated everyone for the work on it. He mentioned that Hometown Holidays will <br /> be on December 6 He added that City staff is modeling the use of surplus bikes for <br /> Community Development staff to use retired bicycles to go to the corporation yard to <br /> JOINT CITY COUNCIUSUCCESSOR AGENCY BOARD November 3, 2014 <br /> MEETING MINUTES PAGE 6 <br />
