Weeks, Parks & Recreation Director <br /> Bill Paulson, Recreation Superintendent <br /> MOTION: Comnissioner Knecht moved, seconded by Comnissioner <br /> Pound, to accept the minutes of the January 11 , <br /> 1978, Regular Business Meeting. The motion <br /> carried unanimously by voice vote. <br /> CORRESPONDENCE <br /> Mr. Weeks distributed a flyer concerning a short-course training ses- <br /> sion called "How to be a More Effective Commissioner or Public Board <br /> Member". If the Comnissioners wish to attend one of the sessions, they <br /> are to inform the Department. <br /> AGENDA ITEM 1 . Presentation - Redwood Ci� Community Theater <br /> Representatives from the Redwood City Community Theater were unable to <br /> attend; therefore, this agenda item was carried over to a future meet- <br /> ing. <br /> AGENDA ITEM 2. Discussion of Jarvis Amendment <br /> Mr. Weeks pointed out to the Comnission that the Jarvis-Gann Initiative <br /> is a proposed constitutional amendment designed to sharply cut back <br /> property taxes on homes and to prevent future tax increases due to rising <br /> property prices. It also contains vote requirement provisions to make <br /> increasing tax levees by the state or local agencies more difficult. <br /> He pointed out that the measure has qualified for the June 6, Primary <br /> Election Ballot. If approved by the voters, it would apply to the fis- <br /> cal year starting July 1 , 1978. <br /> -1- <br />
