- ._ . r.rw.�.���rwr��rur�rrr�r�rnrr . . ._. <br /> ' � � <br /> RECREATION DIVISION MONTHLY REPORT <br /> MAY 1978 <br /> CENTER OPERATIONS & SPECIAL INTEREST CLASSES <br /> Special interest classes for spring are coming to a close and registra- <br /> tion for sumrier classes began on May 30. <br /> Luke Air Force Band returned to Redwood City and provided an excellent <br /> concert downtown at lunchtime on May 1 . Approximately l50 people <br /> attended. <br /> Comnunity Activities Build�ing <br /> The Salvation Army held its annual luncheon on May 26, 1978. On May 28, <br /> a Cat Show was held at the C.A.B. It was extremely well attended and <br /> cats from all over California were shown and judged. <br /> Veterans Building <br /> The Polynesian Dance Class under the direction of Iris Dragon put on a <br /> beautiful recital for the public on May 23, in the Little Theater. Over <br /> 200 people attended and enjoyed a very delightful show and refreshments <br /> were furnished by the class. <br /> The Annual Flower and Art Show took place May 20, 21 , at the Veterans <br /> Building. This year was outstanding for displays from entrants. Flowers <br /> were in abundance and, of course, were the highlights of the show along <br /> with oil paintings, water color paintings, sculptures, etc. <br /> Hoover Program <br /> A special Cinco de Mayo program was held at Hoover School on Thursday, <br /> May 4. A soccer game was scheduled in the afternoon followed by a <br /> big pot luck dinner for students and their families and friends. Special <br /> dances, songs and entertainment was put on by the various classes. Over <br /> 600 people attended and enjoyed a delightful program. <br /> A scuba diving demonstration was held at Hoover pool at lunchtime on <br /> May 24, for the students. It was a well-attended, successful activity. <br /> Red Morton Center <br /> The Second Annual Teen Variety Show was held May 17 with performers from <br /> Hoover, Kennedy and McKinley Junior High Schools displaying their talent <br /> to a full house at the Veterans Memorial Building's Little Theater.
