t ' <br /> After considerable discussion regarding the bill and limitations to the <br /> City if the bill were to pass, the following motion was made: <br /> MOTION: Commissioner Pound moved, seconded by Commis- <br /> sioner Castle, to recommend to the City Council <br /> that they oppose AB 3653, when appropriate to <br /> do so, in that the bill attempts to remove from <br /> local government their prerogative for establish- <br /> ing standards and place this function with the <br /> state. The motion passed by voice vote of 3 ayes <br /> . and 1 no. <br /> REPORT ITEM 1 . Policy Committee <br /> MOTION• Commissioner Pound moved, seconded by Cor�nis- <br /> � sioner Castle, to accept the Policy Comnittee <br /> Report. The motion passed unanimously by voice <br /> vote. <br /> REPORT ITEM 2. Monthly Reports <br /> Commissioner Pound inquired as to when planting of street trees would <br /> be reinitiated. Mr. Weeks indicated that no funds are available at <br /> this time to buy the trees needed for the backlog of planting orders. <br /> He indicated that inspections are being made of each planting request <br /> to determine if planting is feasible (e.g. water lines, space, etc.) <br /> and how many trees will be needed. After inspections are made, an <br /> order will be pla�ed for the purchase of the trees as soon as funds <br /> are available in the new fiscal year. <br /> Bill Paulson indicated that the Flower & Art Show will be held at the <br /> Veterans Memoria1 Building on May 20 and 21 . Mr. Paulson is the Depart- <br /> ment representative. <br /> Bill Paulson pointed out an evening summer teen program on Tuesday <br /> and Thursday evenings will be held in the Redwood Shores area this <br /> summer. He indicated the Summer Recreation Schedule will be sent to <br /> all Redwood City residents on Friday, May 26. <br /> MOTION: Commissioner Knecht moved, seconded by Cor�nis- <br /> sioner Pound, to accept the monthly reports. <br /> The motion passed unanimously by voice vote. <br /> COMMITTEE SCHEDULING <br /> Mr. Weeks indicated that he would like to meet with the Policy Committee <br /> to discuss the Street Tree Master Plan. He indicated they would be called <br /> to establish a time. <br /> -3- <br />
