Y ` � � <br /> PARKS & RECREATION DEPARTMENT MONTHLY REPORT <br /> DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT <br /> MAY 1978 <br /> Red Morton Park <br /> The selection process for the electrical engineering firm to provide tMe <br /> design and engineering services for the new lighting project for Red <br /> Morton Park is now complete. T. H. Rogers, Associates, Consulting <br /> Engineers, with offices in Berkeley, was selected for the work. Nego- <br /> tiations for the contract are now complete and the City Council will <br /> be requested at their meeting of June 12, 1978, for authorization to <br /> proceed with the project. It is anticipated that the plans and speci- <br /> fications for this work will be completed by the end of July. <br /> Preliminary sketches of the proposed group picnic area have been sub- <br /> mitted by Singer & Hodges for review by the staff and the Design & <br /> Development Committee. <br /> Redwood Shores <br /> The p]ans and specifications are now complete for the turfing and <br /> iandscaping of the new park areas which was previously deferred due <br /> to drought conditions. The City Council at their meeting of June 12, <br /> will be requested to authorize advertising for bids for this work and <br /> it is anticipated that a contract for the work can be consur�nated by <br /> the first week of July. This project will complete the parks commen- <br /> surate with current funds available from the GID1-64 Park Development <br /> Funds. <br /> The tennis courts are now complete and have been accepted for play. <br /> Nets will be placed on the courts and they wi11 be open for public <br /> use the first week of June. <br /> Final negotiations are now underway for the City's acceptance from <br /> the bonding company �or the first phase of construction of the parks. <br /> Palm Park <br /> Bids were open May 16, 1978, for the completion of Palm Park. The low <br /> bidder was the Collishaw Corporation of Santa Clara. The City Council <br /> will be requested at their meeting of June 5, 1978, to authorize <br /> awarding the contract for the work in the amount of $99,035. This <br /> will include all of the work proposed for the project except for the <br /> park lighting. This will be deferred until additional funds are <br /> available for lighting installation. <br /> -5- <br />
