PARKS & RECREATION DEPARTP�ENT MONTHLY REPORT <br /> DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT <br /> AUGUST 1978 <br /> Redwood Shores <br /> The turfing and landscape work is currently underway at the new park <br /> areas in Redwood Shores. The project is approximately 50% completed. <br /> The areas have been cultivated and soil amendment and fertilizer has <br /> been incorporated into the soil . The headers are being installed for <br /> the walkways and the placement of the asphalt should take place the <br /> first week of September. The project is on schedule and should be <br /> completed by the middle of October. <br /> Palm Park <br /> Work is now underway for the completion of Palm Park. New sidewalk, <br /> curb, and gutter have been installed and the pads for the picnic <br /> tables are being prepared. The small shelter construction is under- <br /> way together with the access walkway at the northern end of the park. <br /> Canyon Park <br /> The City Council , at their meeting of August 7, 1973, approved the <br /> application for the transfer of State funds from Canyon Park to the <br /> Community Swimming Pool Project. Additionally, the proposed develop- <br /> ment of approximately 1-1/2 acres of the Canyon Park project was <br /> approved. This project will be funded from the capital reserves as <br /> well as with State funds from the S6174 Block Grant Allocation. The <br /> staff was instructed to proceed with the application fpr these funds. <br /> The applications are completed and will be considered for approval <br /> by the City Council at their meeting of September 11 , 1978. In the <br /> meantime, there has been further consultation with Singer & Hodges <br /> the consultants for the project relative to a time schedule for the <br /> preparation of plans and specifications. It should be noted, however, <br /> that any further work on the project must await approval by the State <br /> for the application of SB174 funds and the transfer of funds to the <br /> project from the uncommitted reserves. <br /> Red Morton Park <br /> The design work for the installation of the new lighting and the picnic <br /> facilities, which are elements in the Phase IV construction of the park, <br /> is well underway. The plans and specifications for the lighting will <br /> be submitted for final review by the middle of September. The construc- <br /> tion drawings for the picnic facility will be available for review by <br /> -7- <br />
