�: � <br /> � � <br /> RECRE�ITION DIVISION MOPJTHLY REPORT <br /> NOVEMBER 1978 <br /> COP1MUNITY LEISURE SERVICES <br /> After-School Sports <br /> The Department is currently planning and organizing City-VJide Basketball <br /> Leagues which will start league play January 2 and continue through <br /> February 1979. <br /> The leagues are organized with boys and girls from all elementary schools <br /> in Redwood City including Mt. Carmel & Redeemer Lutheran who are in 4th <br /> through 8th c�rades. The anticipated total sign-up is 700. Games will <br /> be played in the afternoons and evenings at local junior high school <br /> gymnasiums and the Red Morton Recreation Center. <br /> Leaders and officials have completed a one-week in-service training pro- <br /> gram. Practices and practice games will be played in December to prepare <br /> both players and officials for league games. <br /> Planning for additional spring after-school sports and City-Wide Special <br /> Events is now under way utilizing the supplemental budget funds granted <br /> our Department by the City Council on September 30. <br /> Program ideas to be finalized are: Spring City-Wide Track; 3-person <br /> Hunch Basketball Tournament; Roving Leadership; City-Wide Elementary <br /> School Soccer Tournament; and Easter Vacation Day Camp . <br /> -12- <br />
