Monthly Reports <br /> MOTION: CommissYoner Weintraub moved, seconded by Cqmmissioner Knecht, <br /> to accept the monthly reports as �ubmitted, The motlon p��sed <br /> unanimously by voice vote. <br /> Mr. Weeks indicated that the State Clearing House has mis laced the applicdtipn <br /> for funds for the Canyon Park Project (SB174 Block Grant �rqgram) . Resubm�ssion <br /> of the required documents is underway. <br /> Commissioner Weintraub inquired if the Commission could send a formal <br /> letter to the Director of the Y.M.C.A. asking that he not allow h1s ledders <br /> to bring the chi1dren over from the Y.M.C.A. into Palm park until the pdrk <br /> is completed and well established. She was concerned of the number o� <br /> children using the park at one giyen time i�n that the park was npt design�d <br /> to handle a large group •of people all at once. <br /> MOTIOtJ: Commissioner Weintraub rooved, seconded by Commissioner Hdyes, <br /> that a written request be sent to the Y,M,C.q, requesting <br /> their cooperation in withholding their organized groups <br /> of children from the park until the park �$ completed, <br /> The motion passed by voice vote, 4 ayes with 1 abstention. <br /> REPORT ITEM 4. Committee Scheduling <br /> A Community & Commission Re1ations Committee meeting was scheduled for <br /> January 25, at 7:30 p.m. , for the second of a series of ineetings with d <br /> committee from the Civic Cultura1 Commission to discuss the joining of <br /> the two Commissions. Mr. Weeks will contact the Committee from the C�vic <br /> Cultural Commission and the various other public administrators who plan <br /> to attend the meeting. <br /> OTNER <br /> Mr. Weeks indicated that Bill Pualson, Recreat�on Supervjsor, js leaying <br /> the City to work for the Southern California Golf Association starting <br /> January 8, 1979. He indicated a luncheon would be held for Mr. Paulson <br /> on January 3, 1979. <br /> Mr. Weeks discussed the present dil�mma which exists relative to bjngo <br /> playing and the use of city property. He stated that the state l�ws and <br /> city ordinances need further interpretatTOn relatiye tp th�S issue be�qt�e <br /> permits can be issued for thTs pu�pose. He also reYlewed with the Corr�ission <br /> a Policy Committee report in 1977 which was adopted by the Commission which <br /> prohi6ited the use of Park and Recreation facilitles for playing bingo, <br /> -3- <br />
