REPORT ITEM 3. Monthly Reports MOTION: CommissYoner Weintraub moved, seconded by Cqmmissioner Knecht, to accept the monthly reports as �ubmitted, The motlon p��sed unanimously by voice vote. Mr. Weeks indicated that the State Clearing House has mis laced the applicdtipn for funds for the Canyon Park Project (SB174 Block Grant �rqgram) . Resubm�ssion of the required documents is underway. Commissioner Weintraub inquired if the Commission could send a formal letter to the Director of the Y.M.C.A. asking that he not allow h1s ledders to bring the chi1dren over from the Y.M.C.A. into Palm park until the pdrk is completed and well established. She was concerned of the number o� children using the park at one giyen time i�n that the park was npt design�d to handle a large group •of people all at once. MOTIOtJ: Commissioner Weintraub rooved, seconded by Commissioner Hdyes, that a written request be sent to the Y,M,C.q, requesting their cooperation in withholding their organized groups of children from the park until the park �$ completed, The motion passed by voice vote, 4 ayes with 1 abstention. REPORT ITEM 4. Committee Scheduling A Community & Commission Re1ations Committee meeting was scheduled for January 25, at 7:30 p.m. , for the second of a series of ineetings with d committee from the Civic Cultura1 Commission to discuss the joining of the two Commissions. Mr. Weeks will contact the Committee from the C�vic Cultural Commission and the various other public administrators who plan to attend the meeting. OTNER Mr. Weeks indicated that Bill Pualson, Recreat�on Supervjsor, js leaying the City to work for the Southern California Golf Association starting January 8, 1979. He indicated a luncheon would be held for Mr. Paulson on January 3, 1979. Mr. Weeks discussed the present dil�mma which exists relative to bjngo playing and the use of city property. He stated that the state l�ws and city ordinances need further interpretatTOn relatiye tp th�S issue be�qt�e permits can be issued for thTs pu�pose. He also reYlewed with the Corr�ission a Policy Committee report in 1977 which was adopted by the Commission which prohi6ited the use of Park and Recreation facilitles for playing bingo, -3-
