, ' , � � <br /> PARKS & RECREATION DEPARTMENT MONTHLY REPORT <br /> DESIGN & DEVELOPP4ENT <br /> JANUARY 1976 <br /> Redwood Shores Park Developmen� ; <br /> A portion of Marlin II park area falls within the jurisdiction of the Bay <br /> Conservation and Development Commission, and, therefore, will be reviewed <br /> by this body. The Parks and Recreation Director and the Public Works <br /> Director met with representatives of the BCDC for a preliminary review <br /> of the development plans for the area. Resultant from this meeting, an <br /> application will be made for the BCDC to officially review the develop- <br /> ment. The preliminary review produced no serious problems, and it <br /> is anticipated, therefore, that no great delay will result from the <br /> official review. <br /> Additional meetings have been held with the Consultants, Recreation <br /> L?nd Planners, Public 4Jorks Department and staff concerning the prob� <br /> lems being encountered with drainage, salt water intrusion, and soil <br /> conditions. In that it appears unaerground drainage may have to be pro- <br /> vided which will result in significant expenditure of already limited <br /> funds, a plan is being prepared to construct a test area in order to <br /> ascertain specific underground drainage data. This test will provide <br /> the basis for construction drawings. <br /> In the meantime, the master site plans for polphin Parks l , 2 & 3 and for <br /> Marlin II are complete and will be presented for Council approval in mid- <br /> February. <br /> Belmont School District Site -- Red�ood Shores <br /> The final draft of the agreement with Belmont School District for the use <br /> of their elementary school site at Redwood Shores is now complete. It is <br /> being reviewed by all parties concerned and appears to be acceptable. <br /> Present schedules indicate the District Board will be considering the <br /> agreement at their meeting of February 9, 1976. If approved, the matter . <br /> will be submitted to the City Council at their meeting of February 23, �976, <br /> together with plans and specifications for the turfing of the area. If <br /> approved, bids will be called for irtxnediately thereafter. <br /> Street Tree Study <br /> The data collection for the study is now under way. The Consultant has <br /> ten crews of two persons each making the street by street survey. Not only <br /> -8- <br />
