i PARKS & RECREATION DEPARTh1E1�T P�IOMTHLY REPORT ` DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT SEPTEMBER 1976 � Redwood Shores Park Development a The City Council at their meeting of September 20, 1976, approved the plans and specifications for the development of Dolphin Parks I , II, and III and for the first phase of Marlin II Park. Authorization was also granted to call for bids for this work. Bids will be open October 19, 1976, and it is hoped that a contract can be awarded shortly thereafter following a revie4� of the bids. The contract calls for the completion of the work in 80 working days. Depending upon delays due to winter rains, it is hopeful that the projects can be completed and ready for use by early spring of 1977. Belmont School District Site - Redwood Shores The final acceptance of the installation of the turf area and softball dia- mond at the Belmont School District Site in Redwood Shores has now been com- pleted. The area will now be under the maintenance and operation jurisdiction of the Department. The backstop extension work N�ill now be completed by separate contract and the area will be available for public use. Palm Park Recent rains delayed the final completion of Palm Park. The ground cover planting is now underway and all that remains is the final seeding of the area to obtain the turf for the park. P�egotiations are underway with the Redwood City Rotary Club with respect � to a work project which they are desirous of having in Pa]m Park. It a fi the are ppears � y proposing to undertake the landscape planting of the Park as a work project under I;he �epartment's supervision. A later report of this pr•oposed project will be forthcoming as soon as plans are finalized. Mezes Park The construction work for Phase II of P-lezes Park is well under way. The site preparations have been completed together with rough grading and trenching for the irrigation system. The project is approximately 20� completed. -6_
