RECREATION DIVISION MONTHLY REPORT <br /> OCTOBER 1976 <br /> CENTER OPERATIONS & SPECIAL INTEREST CLASSES <br /> Classes met according to schedule during the month of October and plans <br /> for the winter program schedule are well underway with several new classes <br /> being considered . <br /> Priscilla Mosher , Sally Hartman , and Mary Kucala attended a workshop at <br /> College of San Mateo on Handling Problems of Poor Performance on October <br /> 20 . They felt the program was extremely worthwhile and plan to implement <br /> aspects of it . <br /> Community Activities Building <br /> The Redwood Budgie Hobbyists held their annual Budgie Show at the Com- <br /> munity Activities Building on October 9 and 10 , with approximately 250 <br /> people attending . <br /> Red Morton Center <br /> The special interest classes specifically geared for teens have been <br /> quite successful . Offerings include jewelry classes , girls exercise <br /> and dance improvisation . <br /> The cheerleading and pom pon program attracted over 200 students . McKin - <br /> ley selected 18 pom pon leaders and 10 cheerleaders , Hoover has 1 pom pon <br /> leader and 3 cheerleaders and Kennedy has 11 cheerleaders and 6 pom pon <br /> leaders and 4 tumblers . Noontime recreation leaders will meet with them <br /> twice a month and the cheerleaders and pom pon leaders will start cheer- <br /> ing during basketball season . <br /> Tuesday Night Program-Hoover <br /> Attendance at Hoover on Tuesday nights is increasing as students , ages <br /> 11 - 15 are beginning to realize that this is their night . Co-ed volley- <br /> ball seems to be the most popular activity with carroms , chess and music <br /> also being offered . <br /> Noon-Time Program <br /> Hoover - Room 602 has been made available for recreation pro- <br /> gramming and staff has been very cooperative . Acti - <br /> vities have included 4 co-ed flag football teams , <br /> carroms , chess and a music appreciation class . <br /> - 14- <br />
