RECREATION DIVISION MONTHLY REPORTS <br /> NOVEMBER 1976 <br /> COMMUNITY LEISURE SERVICES <br /> After- School Sports ( Grades 4-6 ) <br /> The highlights of the November program included playoffs in both <br /> boys flag football and girls volleyball to determine City Champions . <br /> These playoffs included a combined girls 4th and 5th grade tourna- <br /> ment with eight ( 8 ) teams involved . The championship game saw the Roy <br /> Cloud Smashers taking a 21 -8 , 21 -7 decision over the Selby Lane Low <br /> Riders . <br /> In boys divisions , the final results included : 6th grade- Roy <br /> Cloud Chief ' s 13 , Henry Ford Raiders 0 ; 4th & 5th grade-Taft School <br /> Mustangs 8- 0 over the Garfield 49ers . <br /> Over 380 boys and girls participated in the elementary program <br /> in 1976 . This was an increase of 31 participants from 1975 . <br /> After-School Sports ( Grade 7-8 ) <br /> A highly successful flag football and volleyball season has just <br /> concluded in the Junior High age bracket . <br /> In boys flag football , the top four teams ( determined by won- <br /> loss record for regular season play ) advanced to the Shaughnessy play- <br /> offs to determine the City Champion . The championship game was close <br /> with two Kennedy based teams going down to the wire with the Steelers <br /> winning over the Vikings 25- 18 . <br /> Girls Volleyball playoffs were also held with the Fired-up Foxes <br /> from Hoover beating the Kennedy Super Setters in a close series for the <br /> championship 15-17 , 16- 14 , 15-4 . <br /> Over 225 students participated in both volleyball and flag foot- <br /> ball in 1976 . This is a decline of 36 from 1975 . <br /> Sign-ups for league basketball play are currently underway with <br /> play scheduled to begin on December 8th . <br /> 14- <br />
