Francis , 904 Cleveland Avenue , Redwood City Ken Rowe , Marshall and Walnut Streets , Redwood City Tribune Chairman Keckley called the meeting to order at 7 : 07 A .M . He reported to the Committee that recommendations have been received from the "Redwood City Con- sultation of Joint Strategy and Action Committee " and from PROBE that a full- time , paid staff member be retained by the City and funded under the authorization of the Emergency Employment Act to serve the staff functions of the Housing Concerns Committee . He asked for discussion as to how the Committee members felt about having a paid staff person . Mr. Floyd said it was a good idea inasmuch as other departments of the City with expertise in this area are already overloaded with work, and the Committee members themselves would not be able to contribute that kind of input because of their overload of obligations . Mr . Soderer asked if this person would be hired. only for a period for making a study. Chairman Keckley responded that he saw the need as growing and that he sees the position as permanent . City Manager Fales added to this that the LmPlications of housing and co.—L;nity renewal go beyond simply the provision of housing, and that the function of a full-time staff member could change over the years within a broader approach . He explained that the City Council has already filed an application under & to fund ten training jobs . These jobs were listed in the application hurriedly in order to meet the application deadline .
