He reported to the <br /> Committee that recommendations have been received from the "Redwood City Con- <br /> sultation of Joint Strategy and Action Committee " and from PROBE that a full- <br /> time , paid staff member be retained by the City and funded under the authorization <br /> of the Emergency Employment Act to serve the staff functions of the Housing <br /> Concerns Committee . He asked for discussion as to how the Committee members felt <br /> about having a paid staff person . <br /> Mr. Floyd said it was a good idea inasmuch as other departments of the City with <br /> expertise in this area are already overloaded with work, and the Committee <br /> members themselves would not be able to contribute that kind of input because of <br /> their overload of obligations . <br /> Mr . Soderer asked if this person would be hired. only for a period for making a <br /> study. <br /> Chairman Keckley responded that he saw the need as growing and that he sees the <br /> position as permanent . <br /> City Manager Fales added to this that the LmPlications of housing and co.—L;nity <br /> renewal go beyond simply the provision of housing, and that the function of a <br /> full-time staff member could change over the years within a broader approach . <br /> He explained that the City Council has already filed an application under & to <br /> fund ten training jobs .
