M.
He summarized the preceding meeting ' s discussion on the proposed staff aide for
the Housing Concerns Committee , and reported that the recommendation of the
Committee was made to the City Council and was approved . The effect of the
Council action would be to amend the City' s application that had previously been
filed under the provisions of the Emergency Employment Act for either an additional
position or a modification in the proposed positions .
City Manager Fales reported that the City had received approval from EEA to amend
the application and that we can recruit any time . The amendment consisted of
substituting the housing staff aide for two clerical aides with a salary range
of $894 to $986 per month . He also reported that a job description had been
prepared in draft form by the Personnel Department , and these were distributed
to the Committee for their consideration .
4
Mr . Floyd asked for a clarification of what reservations the City Council might
have had on having a housing aide whether or not he could be employed under EEA .
Chairman Keckley responded that the City Council was advised that the Committee
would come back with the same request for a full-time staff aide even if it
could not proceed under EEA . City Manager Fales said that all " ifs " are now
removed . •
Chairman Keckley asked for comments on the job specifications and started with
the title ; i . e . , whether the title should be "Community Relations Specialist" ,
"Community Housing Specialist" , or "Community Redevelopment Specialist" .
City Manager Fales saw this person starting with the Housing Committee ' s main
concerns , but in the future , expanding into the broader field of redevelopment
housing . -
MINUTES HOUSING CONCERNS COMMITTEE OCTOBER 27 , 1971 PAGE 1 OF 3
