B . Degree from Garrett Theological School , Evanston , Illinois , 1941 , Master of Divinity Married Erna Schillp , June 5 , 1941 . Four sons : Robert A. , Richard Ted , Keith D . , Kent D . , One daughter : Shirley . Ordained Methodist Minister, 1942 . Have served in Sunnyvale ; Sacramento ; San Fran- cisco; Tracy; Aiea, Hawaii ; Atwater; Lodi and since 1965 , First United Methodist Church , Redwood City . Other interests : District and Conference responsibilities have included Chairman of Radio Commission , California- Nevada Conference , Methodist Church ; Sacramento and San Francisco Council of Churches ; Chairman , Conference Relations Committee (Personnel concerns of ministers ) ; Board of Missions ; District Missionary Secretary of San Jose District at present . Community activities have included : Member of Board of Directors of the town of Aiea, Hawaii , the Aiea Hospital , the Sacto Goodwill Industries , the Sacramento , Honolulu and Redwood City YMCA, not to mention PTA presidencies , Boy Scout commit- tees etc . Service Clubs : Sacramento Junior Chamber of Commerce , Tracy and Aiea Lions , Sunny- vale and Redwood City Rotary . Highest office held - Zone Chairman , Leeward Oahu Lions . Basic Concerns : To help where possible to share my faith in a God of Love and Justice and to do what I can to apply that faith to both the personal and social needs of the world . This has frequently involved me in groups , movements or projects aimed at im- proving the human situation such as Peace efforts , Inter- racial reconciliation move- ments , and efforts to alleviate the effects of poverty, and to work at erradication of its causes . Since I am aware that any permanent solution must take into considera- tion the "haves" and the "have-a- littles" as well as the "have-nots" . I have often been a mug-wump with my mug toward the "have-nots" and my "wump" in a good position to be kicked by those who don ' t like the way I am facing . In Redwood City, I was among the organizers of Citizens Against Racism, participated in some Probe activities work with Joint Strategy and Action Committee and Land for People . in addition to several post -graduate courses in Sociology and a considerable amount of personal reading , I try to get to know the situation at first hand so that I can help make informed decisions .
