Motion carries 7-0 by roll call vote. Minute Order- 14-165 <br /> 9. STAFF REPORT(S) - None. <br /> 10. MATTERS OF COUNCIL INTEREST <br /> A. City Council Member Report of Conferences Attended <br /> Council Member Seybert reported that he and Council Member Howard had their first <br /> 2+2 meeting with the School District and received much appreciation for all the City <br /> does. He noted this was a very positive meeting and the big announcement was a new <br /> Mandarin Immersion program. He also added that food quality is an issue for the <br /> schools and the school district is focusing on the quality of what is available to the <br /> students. He also said that there is another meeting being planned with the Sequoia <br /> Union High School in the near future. <br /> Council Member Pierce reported on a recent Redwood City 2020 meeting at which <br /> Mathew Reeds gave an update on pertinent material regarding Safe Routes to School. <br /> This Council Member added details and statistics and she said that safety is important. <br /> Vice Mayor Foust shared her appreciation to all those who volunteered at 25th Annual <br /> "Original" Trivia Bee event. She added that Council Member Pierce and Howard were <br /> there as well and that this is always a pleasant event. She thanked all those who <br /> volunteer and support this great event, and asked others to come forward and volunteer <br /> with Project READ because the need is great. <br /> Council Member Aguirre announced that on November 2, 2014 there will be a <br /> celebration of the "Dia de Los Muertos" from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Courthouse Square. <br /> She said all are invited and many activities will be available for all ages. <br /> Mayor Gee announced that Council Member Aguirre was voted on and elected as the <br /> Secretary/Treasurer of the Peninsula Division of the California League of Cities. <br /> B. City Council Committee Reports <br /> C. City Manager (Oral) Update — None <br /> D. City Attorney Report from Closed Session — None <br /> 11.
