5. SPECIAL ORDER(S) OF THE DAY <br /> A. Proclamation - in Honor of Irma Hofslund's 108th Birthday - Jeffrey Gee, <br /> Mayor <br /> Mayor Gee congratulated Ms. Hofslund on her 108th birthday and shared many of her <br /> life's achievements. He then invited Mr. Mario Rendon, District Director of Assembly <br /> Member Kevin Mullin's Office, to present a proclamation to Ms. Hofslund on behalf of <br /> the local State Assembly Member. Secondly, Mayor Gee presented a Resolution from <br /> the Senator's Jerry Hill's Office, congratulating Ms. Hofslund for this auspicious <br /> occasion. Mayor Gee presented then, on behalf of City Council, a proclamation and he <br /> highlighted a number of her accomplishments and contributions to the community all <br /> focusing on service and he passion for it. He commented that she has been an <br /> inspiration to many and wished her a Happy Birthday and invited her to come back <br /> again on her 109th birthday. Ms. Hofslund expressed her appreciation for Council's <br /> gesture of honoring her <br /> B. Recognizing Electronic Arts - Curt Wilhelm, Vice President of Corporate <br /> Services and Facilities and Provident Credit Union - Wayne Bunker, <br /> President and Chief Executive Officer, for their Employer Sponsored <br /> Child Care programs -Jeffrey Gee, Mayor <br /> Mayor Gee invited both gentlemen up to join him at the podium while noting that this is <br /> the second in a series of recognitions for employers who sponsor child care programs. <br /> He commented that these initiatives are important and contribute to work-life balance, <br /> reduce driving, and allow more flexibility for workers. <br /> Mr. Bunker noted that they have been full from day one and they are proud to be a <br /> corporate member of Redwood City. Mr. Wilhelm spoke about the importance of work- <br /> life balance and noted that this is a great benefit to Electronic Arts and its employees. <br /> 6. PUBLIC COMMENT <br /> Alondra, Samuel, and Karolina representing the Sequoia High School Dream Club, <br /> spoke in favor of assisting undocumented students. They promoted an upcoming <br /> dinner this Friday, November 21 st about "Making Dreams Come True," and they asked <br /> Council and the community to support this event and their cause. <br /> David McCallum, representing the Redwood Creek Preservation Trust, spoke about the <br /> PortFest and thanked the Council for attending that event and he announced the <br /> upcoming romancing the creek event on February 14, 2015. He invited the community <br /> to attend and be part of the cleaning which makes a considerable difference.
