9.A. - Page 1
REPORT
To the Honorable Mayor and City Council
From the City Manager
January 26, 2015
SUBJECT
Complete Streets Update
RECOMMENDATION
1. Adopt a resolution approving formation of a Complete Streets Advisory
Committee including the pilot mission, duties, structure, and membership of the new
Committee as outlined therein.
2. By motion, direct staff to begin the member recruitment process for the new
Complete Streets Advisory Committee.
3. By motion, direct staff to advertise for construction the Farm Hill Boulevard Street
Improvement Pilot Project and to finalize an evaluation and monitoring program for the
project.
BACKGROUND
The purpose of this meeting is to update Council on two complete streets efforts since
the last Council study session in February 2013 and for the Council to consider:
1. The study
team evaluated and discussed several options, and in January 2009, recommended to
Council the formation of a Redwood City Complete Streets Advisory Committee
(Advisory Committee), with an emphasis on traditionally under-represented users such
as bicyclists and pedestrians. Forming an Advisory Committee will establish a
community body to 1) help facilitate Complete Streets transportation options in
Redwood City; 2) provide staff with recommendations for pragmatic and specific user
solutions; and 3) serve as ambassadors to help educate, communicate, and promote
complete streets to the broader community. In 2009, the creation of this committee was
Page 1 of 10
