04/26/2004 <br />quality early care and education is a critical support for parental employment, <br />productivity, and peace of mind; <br />WHEREAS, Redwood City's Child Care Policy adopted in 1990 states in part that <br />the City "will work with service providers to expand services to meet the child care and <br />early education needs of families with infants and preschoolers;" and <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Redwood City urges the <br />state and federal government, along with local governments, to increase investment in <br />voluntary, quality preschool for all 3- and 4- year -olds; and <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Redwood City will continue to work <br />with the Redwood City School District and other community partners to develop a <br />strategic plan to increase access to quality preschool for all 3- and 4- year -olds whose <br />families choose to enroll them through both public and private programs in a variety of <br />settings including schools, child care centers, Head Start programs and family child care <br />homes. <br />Atty /Reso /Reso.1460 Muff # 708 <br />041404 2 <br />
