7.1.C. - Page 9 <br /> EXHIBIT "A" <br /> Proposed Classification <br /> CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> POLICE EVIDENCE AND PROPERTY ROOM COORDINATOR <br /> DEFINITION <br /> Under general direction, this non-sworn position performs lead supervision and <br /> specialized technical functions to identify, collect, receive, classify, process, log, <br /> catalogue, index, preserve, transport, release, destroy, and dispose of evidence and <br /> property; and performs related duties as assigned. <br /> SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED <br /> Direction is provided by a Police Lieutenant, Police Sergeant, or other Command Staff <br /> personnel. <br /> Responsibilities include technical and functional supervision of personnel assigned to the <br /> Evidence and Property section. <br /> EXAMPLES OF IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES <br /> Supervises and coordinates the work of staff assigned to the Evidence and Property <br /> Section, including implementation of work schedules, assignments, and training; and <br /> performs other supervisory responsibilities, as assigned. <br /> Supervises staff in the development and application of new technologies to achieve <br /> higher efficiency in productivity, customer service, and work processes. <br /> Provides leadership to develop and retain highly competent, customer service- oriented <br /> staff through training, employee development, coaching, mentoring, and day-to-day <br /> supervisory practices which supports the Department's mission and values in assigned <br /> areas of responsibility. <br /> Receives and handles crime scene evidence which may include weapons, narcotics, <br /> biohazardous materials, and items of high value. <br /> Photographs and classifies evidence by hazard and classification and secures in the <br /> correct location; and provides inventory reports for all evidence received, released, and <br /> disposed. <br /> Arranges for disposal of poisons, and hazardous, flammable, and explosive materials. <br /> ATTY/RES0.3058/CC RESO AMENDING CITIY CLASSIFICATION GIS TECHNICIAN <br /> REV:02-11-15 MLG <br /> Page 6 of 9 <br />
