CALL TO ORDER— Mayor Gee called the meeting to order at 5:10 p.m. <br /> 2. ROLL CALL -All Council Members were present. <br /> Staff present: City Manager Bell, City Attorney Thompson and City Clerk <br /> Vonderlinden. <br /> There were members of the public present. <br /> 3. PUBLIC COMMENT <br /> Kaia Eakin, resident, spoke in support of levying penalties and fines on owners <br /> who demolish historic properties. She informed Council that San Mateo County <br /> received a $500,000 grant from the California Coastal Conservancy to study the <br /> effects of sea level rise along the bay shoreline. <br /> 4. CITY COUNCIL RETREAT <br /> A. City Council Discussion on Strategic Initiatives and Priorities <br /> Dr. Bell, City Manager, provided some introductory remarks about the goal of the retreat <br /> and how this type of ineeting helps confirm Strategic Initiatives and Priorities for the <br /> Council, which will then get woven into the City Manager's and the City's work plan. Dr. <br /> Bell added that while the meeting was not televised, the audio was being recorded. <br /> Ms. Royleen White, the facilitator, gave an overview of the plan for the evening which <br /> included: outline of priorities and budget discussion that included "looming" threats, key <br /> priority updates and a list of upcoming big items. <br /> She also reviewed prior group agreements, rules of engagement, and that the ultimate <br /> goal is to "Build a Great Community Together".
