67
Written Communications (continued)
Gerald Walter, 519 Leahy Street, one of the circu-
lators of the subject petition, described the present
undesirable condition of the property in question,
and urged the City to acquire it as open space . Mr.
Walter stated he was familiar with the objections of
certain residents to improvements to Stulsaft Park
and Stafford Park, and suggested that funds budgeted
for improvements to those parks be used to acquire
and improve the subject property in a neighborhood
where it is desired.
Mayor Weymouth explained that no funds were included
in the 1975-1976 Annual Budget for improvement of
the abovementioned parks, and observed that, in
addition, funds recommended for improvement to the
Community Park were deleted because of Council de-
sire to cut the Budget as much as possible .
Discussion followed and comment was made concerning
the City' s lack of funds for many desirable projects
and previously established priorities with regard
to parks and open space .
There being no objection, Mayor Weymouth ordered the
petition referred without prejudice to the Park and
Recreation Commission for their consideration.
(Memo 7/8/75)
I 3. Letter from Sharon Blumenthal, Reunion Days Planning
Committee of Downtown Merchants Association, request-
ing permission to use sidewalks on Broadway for art
show on July 11 and 12, 1975
MOTION: Councilman Norris moved, seconded by Council-
man Rhodes to authorize the City Manager to issue a
letter permit to allow use of sidewalks on Broadway
for an art show on July 11 and 12, 1975 as requested
by the Reunion Days Planning Committee of the Down-
town Association.
The motion carried unanimously by voice vote.
(MINUTE ORDER NO. 75-135)
4. Copies of letters from the Belmont County Water
District to the City Manager regarding water supply
service, dated June 30, 1975.
Comment was made concerning the subject letters, and
it was the consensus of Council that staff should
handle the matters contained therein and present
them to Council at the appropriate time.
(Memo 7/8/75)
IIExecutive Session
MOTION : Councilman Williams moved, seconded by Councilman
Henderson, to adjourn to Executive Session for discussion
of matters to be presented by the City Attorney.
The motion carried unanimously by voice vote.
-6-
Reg.Mtg.
7/7/75
