86
Oral Communications (continued)
In response to request of Mayor Weymouth, City
Clerk Hildebrand read letters from the following
children: Rosalie Bagnardi, Billy and Bobby
Anderson, Brian Reed, and Shafath Syed, all asking
that a park be developed in the Canyon Road neigh-
borhood.
Mr. Anderson asked that the Council consider a change
of park development priorities rather than a tax in-
crease to pay for development of the requested park.
Council members and City Manager Fales explained to
Mr. Anderson that no funds are allocated and none
exist in the current City budget for park acquisi-
tion and development, so that there is no question
of changing any park priorities. Attention was
called to the four all-day budget sessions resulting
in many cuts, including $200,000 budgeted for the
Community Center completion.
Mr. Anderson suggested that some of the proposed
park property belongs to the City and could be kept
from being developed for housing and used instead
as a small park. City Attorney Schricker advised
that the City-owned lots are on a slope above the
area where it is requested a park and open space
be developed.
Comment was also made that other neighborhoods in
the City are competing in asking for development of
parks in present open space and have also requested
adjustment of priorities so that their areas could
be served first. Regret was expressed that funds
are not available to meet some of the demands for
parks by various neighborhoods.
Executive Session
MOTION : Councilman Henderson moved, seconded by Council-
man Leipzig, to adjourn to executive session 'for the
purpose of discussing pending litigation.
The motion carried unanimously by voice vote.
Mayor Weymouth announced that Council will reconvene
solely for the purpose of adjourning to an executive
session to be held at 3 :45 p.m. , Thursday, July 24, 1975
in the City Manager' s office. The Council adjourned to
executive session at 10:20 p.m.
Adjournment
Upon motion duly made, seconded and carried, the Council
adjourned at 11 :05 p.m. to an executive session for the
purpose of considering labor negotiations at 3 :45 p.m. ,
Thursday, July 24, 1975 in the Office of the City Manager
at City Hall.
JACQUELINE C.
