He noted that as individuals Council members may take <br /> a position privately, but it is not advisable from a legal <br /> standpoint for Councilmen to do so now <br /> City Manager Fales also advised that referral of the letter <br /> to staff would not be appropriate since staff does not have <br /> and is not expected to have any expertise in school adminis- <br /> tration, since the subject is not within the purview of City <br /> staff <br /> Discussion followed and Council members and Mr Bautista com- <br /> mented concerning appropriate action for those who may wish <br /> to oppose establishment of a continuation high school on the <br /> former Franklin School site <br /> Frank Dunkel , 25 Ethel Court, stated that he understands the <br /> Council 's position in not believing it appropriate to take <br /> a position on a matter not within Council jurisdiction, but <br /> stated he believes the City is concerned in that residents <br /> in the Franklin School area believe that public health and <br /> safety may be involved, if a continuation high school is <br /> established there <br /> Oral Communications <br /> 1 Russell Rapp, R B Furniture, 2750 El Camino Real , referred to <br /> his letter of August 29, 1975 addressed to Councilman Rhodes <br /> which was copied and distributed to Council and which de- <br /> scribes certain traffic problems encountered by prospective <br /> customers and delivery trucks at the store Mr Rapp asked <br /> for assistance in improving the situation It was pointed <br /> out that at the time the business was established at its <br /> present location, Council members and staff had anticipated <br /> the problems encountered now, but R B Furniture had insisted <br /> they would not occur However, staff would be willing to <br /> work with Mr Rapp in attempting to overcome them <br /> There being no objection, Mayor Weymouth referred the subject <br /> letter to staff (Memo 10/7/75) <br /> Adjournment <br /> MOTION Councilman Norris moved, seconded by Councilman Williams, <br /> to adjourn to an executive seession at 4 30 p m , Monday, October 13, <br /> 1975 at the Community Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, <br /> for the purpose of interviewing applicants for appointment to the <br /> Civic Cultural Commission <br /> The motion carried unanimously by voice vote <br /> The Council adjourned at 10 03 p m <br /> JACQUELINE C HILDEBRAND <br /> City Clerk <br /> -9- <br /> Reg Mtg <br /> 10/6/75 <br />
