November 17, 1975 Mary W Hendu on - Marguente Leipnq Robert C Norris William G Rhodes Adjourned Meeting The Council of the City of Redwood City met on this date at 4.00 p m. in an adjourned meeting from November 13, 1975, with Mayor Weymouth presiding over a joint meeting of the City Council and the Park and Recreation Commission, for a discussion and slide presentation on the subject of Park Development Concepts. Roll Call Councilmen present. Barrett, Henderson, Norris, Rhodes, Williams (arrived at 4.10 p m ) and Mayor Weymouth Councilmen absent Leipzig Park and Recreation Commissioners present Knecht, Rollins, Schlesinger, Weintraub, Wilson Commissioners absent: Aldrich, Pound Staff present City Manager Fales, City Attorney Schricker, Director of Parks and Recreation Weeks, Deputy City Clerk Reggetts Discussion and Slide presentation - Park Development Concepts To begin the presentation, Mayor Weymouth invited Mr Weeks to comment Mr Weeks advised that the Commissioners had for several months concerned themselves with design of new park areas, redesign of old park areas and similar matters It was thought that a joint meeting would provide an opportunity for exchange of ideas and to determine if the Commission is proceeding in the direction the Council would like. Mr Weeks introduced Mr Ron Hodges and Mr Phil Singer, landscape architects, of the firm engaged by the City to do certain park design and construction, who were to make the slide presentation and to discuss some of the rationale for the types of park equipment and furniture they were suggesting. Mr Weeks also directed attention to a miniature display model of a concept for the development of Palm Park Following brief introductory comments, Mr Singer began the slide presentation, and invited questions from the audience during the showing. Included were photographic views of various types of • park bench installations and comments regarding comparative costs of wood versus plastics and metals, and the various degrees of re- sistance to vandalism, and the necessity to consider cost of main- tenance along with the initial cost Also shown were various styles Adj Mtg w/Park & Rec. 11/17/75
