Barrett, Henderson, Norris, Rhodes, Williams <br /> (arrived at 4.10 p m ) and Mayor Weymouth <br /> Councilmen absent Leipzig <br /> Park and Recreation <br /> Commissioners present Knecht, Rollins, Schlesinger, Weintraub, <br /> Wilson <br /> Commissioners absent: Aldrich, Pound <br /> Staff present City Manager Fales, City Attorney Schricker, <br /> Director of Parks and Recreation Weeks, Deputy City Clerk Reggetts <br /> Discussion and Slide presentation - <br /> Park Development Concepts <br /> To begin the presentation, Mayor Weymouth invited Mr Weeks to <br /> comment Mr Weeks advised that the Commissioners had for several <br /> months concerned themselves with design of new park areas, redesign <br /> of old park areas and similar matters It was thought that a joint <br /> meeting would provide an opportunity for exchange of ideas and to <br /> determine if the Commission is proceeding in the direction the <br /> Council would like. Mr Weeks introduced Mr Ron Hodges and Mr <br /> Phil Singer, landscape architects, of the firm engaged by the City <br /> to do certain park design and construction, who were to make the <br /> slide presentation and to discuss some of the rationale for the <br /> types of park equipment and furniture they were suggesting. Mr <br /> Weeks also directed attention to a miniature display model of a <br /> concept for the development of Palm Park <br /> Following brief introductory comments, Mr Singer began the slide <br /> presentation, and invited questions from the audience during the <br /> showing. Included were photographic views of various types of <br /> • <br /> park bench installations and comments regarding comparative costs <br /> of wood versus plastics and metals, and the various degrees of re- <br /> sistance to vandalism, and the necessity to consider cost of main- <br /> tenance along with the initial cost Also shown were various styles <br /> Adj Mtg <br /> w/Park & Rec. <br /> 11/17/75 <br />
