Mr.
Lester then commented on the availability of parking on the street
and urged the variance be granted
Lengthy discussion followed concerning parking space requirements
for restaurants, whether it is desirable to permit any business to
rely on on-street parking for its patrons; alternatives available
to The Wine Company with regard to providing the same number of
spaces required of other similar businesses in the City, whether
any development is possible on the State right-of-way property;
difficulties which can be anticipated if some businesses are to
be allowed to consider the availability of on-street parking in
attempting to provide adequate patron parking, and the impossibility
of counting the number of on-street parking spaces likely to be
available
City Attorney Schricker asked that the color-coded traffic-parking
survey prepared by staff be made a part of the official record of
the proceedings
Mr Price stated for the record that he has no personal or financial
interest in The Wine Company
In response to question from Mr Cass, Mr Schricker advised that
findings have been made by the Planning Commission and that findings
must now be made by the City Council who will render their own de-
cision, noting that the burden of persuasion is essentially the
same and remains on the applicant for the variance.
City Attorney Schricker requested that the following documents be
made a part of the official record of the proceedings.
1 .
