33i3
Oral Communications
1. George Ward, 1176 Parkwood (See item 4 under
"Written Communications" above) commented on the
history of flood damage which occurs in his neigh-
... borhood and requested, on behalf of himself and of
his neighbors who joined in preparing his letter
to Council on the subject, that funds be budgeted
for construction of a Nimitz Ditch drainage pipe
to protect homeowners on the Ditch during the
rainy season.
MOTION: Councilman Henderson moved, seconded by
Councilman Williams, to refer the request of Mr.
George Ward contained in his letter to Council of
March 10, 1975 regarding the Nimitz Ditch drainage
pipe to staff for response to Council.
The motion carried unanimously by voice vote.
In response to question, Assistant City Manager
Smith advised that the report will be made promptly
and that Mr. Ward will be notified when it is pre-
pared. (MINUTE ORDER NO. 75-68)
2. Councilman Norris referred to the report of the City
Manager of March 21, 1975 regarding a business license
application for a business which involves selling on
City streets from a truck and asked if such activity
is permitted. City Attorney Schricker advised that
he will discuss the subject with the Police Depart-
ment, since such activity is prohibited, depending
upon the circumstances. (Memo 3/25/75)
3. In response to question from Councilman Henderson,
Planning Director Schroeter advised that the Com-
munity Development Block Grant hearing was scheduled
for 5 :30 p.m. rather than 7 :30 p.m. , because it is
a special extra meeting for the Planning Commission,
and notification has been given to all persons and
agencies interested, although only five written re-
sponses have been received. Mr. Schroeter further
advised that the Planning Commission has encountered
a deadline problem since the State took two months
instead of the required 30 days to make its review.
4. Councilman Leipzig called attention to the presence
in the audience of one of the proprietors of a
business in the 1700 block of Broadway who had re-
quested Council action with regard to the red curbs
established in front of their shops (see Council
Minutes of 3/17/75) . Mayor Weymouth and Councilman
Leipzig commended staff for their prompt response
to the businessmen who are quite satisfied with the
,,ow proposed sidewalk changes to meet their parking
problems.
two
-5-
Reg.Mtg.
3/24/75
