Application for funds for construction Report of City Manager 12/30/80 <br /> of Bayfront Bikeway Report of Director of Public Works 11/25/80 <br /> City Manager Fales advised that some alteration <br /> of the map provided to Council may be needed <br /> as the project is refined in the future, noting <br /> that the project is fully funded by Transpor- <br /> tation Development Act funds, but the City <br /> will be required to maintain it. <br /> In response to questions, Mr. Fales said that <br /> the bikeway will cross the water as dictated <br /> by applicable conditions; that it is not yet <br /> known whether the path would accommodate other <br /> than bicycles; that staff intent is to co- <br /> ordinate the bikeway with the results of the <br /> Wilbur Smith study now being prepared; and <br /> that means of access under the freeway is now <br /> provided with the bikeway in mind which would <br /> make use possible from the west side of the <br /> highway. <br /> (Councilman Bury arrived at 7:40 p.m.) <br /> In further response to question relating to <br /> access to the proposed bikeway by bicycle <br /> path from the west side of the City, Mr. Fales <br /> advised that some right-of-way now exists <br /> near Veterans Boulevard; that the Dumbarton <br /> Bridge will have a bike path; and that at <br /> public hearings held relating to proposed bike <br /> paths in Redwood City, residents strongly <br /> opposed their establishment anywhere parking <br /> spaces would be eliminated. 4 <br /> RESOLUTION APPROVING BICYCLE PATH IN CITY Title read. The City is .a <br /> able to pay less for the lease purchase, <br /> because of certain tax exempt provisions and <br /> then can use the City's cash for investment. <br /> Mr. Ference offered one example where the City <br /> IMO could borrow for lease purchase at 11% and was <br /> receiving interest at 20%, noting that if <br /> Reg.Mtg. <br /> 1/5/81 <br /> Page 2 7/ <br />
