Award of contract - Fair Oaks Community Report of City Manager 5/29/80 <br /> Center Remodeling Project Report of Human Services Coordinator 5/28/80 <br /> In response to questions, City Manager Fales <br /> advised that the successful bidder has been .r+r <br /> checked as usual by the City and cleared by <br /> the Department of Housing and Urban Develop- <br /> ment (HUD) for the project; that if HUD had <br /> knowledge of poor experience with the company, <br /> they would have been required to advise the <br /> City; and that in any case the City would <br /> obtain official clearance of the prospective <br /> contractor from HUD to participate in the <br /> HUD-sponsored project. <br /> Discussion followed and Mr. Fales, Assistant <br /> City Manager Smith and City Attorney Schricker <br /> commented and replied to questions relating to <br /> the fact that it is proposed that the contract <br /> be awarded to the lowest responsible bidder <br /> in accordance with the Charter and state and <br /> federal law; that is is impossible to <br /> conjecture as to what effect any kind of <br /> picketing might have on the project; the fact <br /> that there has been no threat of such activity; <br /> the fact that there are plenty of legal <br /> remedies if the contractor fails to perform; and <br /> the pleasure of Council members and staff that <br /> the much-needed project is to be constructed. <br /> Nita De Masi of the Fair Oaks Community Center <br /> Advisory Board was present,and she and other <br /> members of the Board were commended for their <br /> assistance with the remodeling project. <br /> Title read.
