133
ORAL COMMUNICATIONS
1. Councilman Norris announced for the record that he will not be a candidate for
reelection at the forthcoming general municipal election on April 8, 1980.
Councilmen Stangel, Bury and Biagi announced that they will be candidates for
reelection on that date.
2. Mrs. Lois Turner, 267 W. Oakwood Boulevard, Chairman of the Sequoia PTSA and owner of
Bill's Catering Service, 891 Charter Street, reported her experience in purchasing
"Yellow Page" advertising from the Pacific Telephone Company and suggested the infor-
mation given to Council by representatives of the Company relating to white page
listings for San Mateo County was incorrect or misleading. She also objected to having
Redwood City, the county seat of San Mateo County, included in a telephone book whose
primary title is "Palo Alto" which is in Santa Clara County. Discussion followed and
those who object to the new directories were urged to write to the Pacific Telephone
Company and, where possible, discontinue advertising in the "Yellow Pages."
Executive Session - Adjournment
Mayor Rhodes announced that since Council will adjourn to an executive session and reconvene
solely to adjourn that the resolution commemorating the memory of Floyd D. Granger will be
considered at this time. Mayor Rhodes read the proposed resolution and Councilman Bury,
who served on the City Council with Mr. Granger, commented on Mr. Granger's outstanding
service to the community and related some personal experiences concerning him.
M/S: Bury/Leipzig
RESOLUTION NO. 8487 COMMEMORATING THE MEMORY OF FLOYD D. GRANGER
adopted unanimously by roll call vote
Upon motion duly made, seconded and carried, City Council adjourned to executive session
at 8:55 p.m. and will reconvene solely to adjourn.
Upon motion duly made, seconded and carried, City Council adjourned at 9:47 p.m. in
memory of Floyd D.
