7.1.B. - Page 2
Redwood City's proximity to the Bay provides great benefit to our community. Wetlands
— with their role in providing clean water, flood control, wildlife habitat and recreational
opportunities — are crucial to the health of the residents and businesses of Redwood
City, along with the millions who live and work in the communities that surround the San
Francisco Bay. It is recommended that the City Council approve a letter in support of AB
746 (see attached) in order to better enable SFBRA to achieve its mission of restoring,
enhancing and protecting the wetlands in the Bay and along its shoreline.
ALTERNATIVES
Council could elect to not take a position on, or to oppose, AB 746.
FISCAL IMPACT
There is no direct fiscal impact associated with the City taking a position on AB 746.
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
This activity is not a "project" under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) as
defined in CEQA Guidelines, section 15378, because Redwood City's support by
sending a letter is an administrative activity and therefore will not result in either a direct
or foreseeable physical change in the environment.
AUDREY SEYMOUR RAMBERG
ASSISTANT CITY MANAGER
ik_"m'ert/
FOR ROBERT B. BELL
CITY MANAGER
ATTACHMENTS
1. Letter in Support of AB 746
2. AB 746 Fact Sheet
