7.1.A. - Page 2 <br /> ANALYSIS <br /> The 2014 Overlay Project will repair failed asphalt sections on Whipple Avenue and <br /> Veterans Boulevard. It will then overlay portions of Whipple Avenue and Veterans <br /> Boulevard with 2-inches of asphalt concrete. This project will also include striping <br /> changes and concrete improvements, such as "sharrows", bike lanes, curb ramps, and <br /> crosswalk improvements. These improvements comply with the city's complete streets <br /> policy. Based upon the bids received, staff believes that the low bid of <br /> $908,770.80 is reasonable and recommends awarding the contract to O'Grady Paving <br /> Inc. <br /> Construction will begin in June 2015 and conclude in August 2015. Notification of the <br /> work will be mailed to area residents, property owners and business owners in May <br /> 2015. Residents and businesses will receive an additional notice 14 days in advance of <br /> the start of work in their immediate area. Project updates will also be available on the <br /> City's website. <br />
