7.1.F. - Page 1 <br /> REPORT <br /> To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br /> From the City Manager <br /> May 18, 2015 <br /> SUBJECT <br /> Confirm Complete Streets Advisory Committee (Pilot) Composition <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Confirm Complete Streets Advisory Committee's (Pilot) composition which is to include: <br /> -a total of five members with the option of the fifth member being either a resident of <br /> unincorporated Redwood City or an employee of a Redwood City business <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> At its City Council meeting of January 26, 2015, the City Council received a "Complete <br /> Streets Update..." report, from staff. <br /> The formation of a Complete Streets Advisory Committee was approved by the City <br /> Council. The Council discussed in detail the composition of the committee expressing <br /> various opinions on composition and size of the committee. The discussion included <br /> the option of including residents from unincorporated areas or considering applicants <br /> who are employed in Redwood City. The possibility of enlarging the size of the <br /> committee to seven members, at the end of the two-year pilot, was something the <br /> Council directed staff to do at the end of the two-year pilot. <br /> The outcome of the discussion was that the City Council authorized forming a Complete <br /> Streets Advisory Committee made up of five (5) members. The City Council designated <br /> that four members were to be selected from registered voters who are residents of <br /> Redwood City and include the option of one member being from unincorporated <br /> Redwood City or employed in Redwood City. <br /> ANALYSIS <br /> The approved minutes for the meeting of January 26, 2015 contain the following motion: <br /> "M/S Pierce/Aguirre motion to approve staff recommendations #1 and #2. The motion was <br /> amended by the maker and second to have staff look at including Emerald Hills and having no <br /> more than one committee member be from outside of incorporated Redwood City. Motion <br /> carries unanimously by electronic vote with Council Member Foust absent." (excerpt from <br /> approved minutes) <br />
