7.3.A. - Page 1
REPORT
To the Honorable Mayor and City Council
From the City Manager
May 18, 2015
SUBJECT
Set Public Hearing for Adopting Fiscal Year 2015-16 Budget
RECOMMENDATION
Adopt a resolution establishing the date of June 22, 2015 for the public hearing and
formal action of the FY 2015-16 budget.
BACKGROUND
Section 51.5 of the Redwood City Charter requires that the City Council establish by
resolution the date for the budget public hearing and the budget resolution adoption. On
March 9, 2015 the Council approved the dates for action on the FY 2015-16 budget.
ANALYSIS
Adopting the FY 2015-16 budget without setting a public hearing would not be in
compliance with the City Charter. It is recommended that this public hearing along with
the adoption of the budget resolution take place on June 22, 2015.
ALTERNATIVES
The date for the public hearing was recommended by the City Manager and may be
changed at Council's discretion.
FISCAL IMPACT
There is no direct fiscal impact associated with this recommendation.
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
This activity is not a project under CEQA as defined in CEQA Guidelines, section
15378, because it has no potential for resulting in either a direct or foreseeable physical
change in the environment.
MATTHEW MCDONALD
FINANCE DIRECTOR
