06/22/2015 <br /> ORIGINAL <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 15425 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> REDWOOD CITY REQUESTING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS <br /> OF THE COUNTY OF SAN MATEO CONSOLIDATE A GENERAL <br /> MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER <br /> 3, 2015, WITH THE CONSOLIDATED MUNICIPAL, SCHOOL AND <br /> SPECIAL DISTRICT ELECTION TO BE HELD ON THE DATE <br /> PURSUANT TO § 10403 OF THE ELECTIONS CODE; AND <br /> REQUESTING COUNTY TO RENDER SPECIFIED SERVICES TO <br /> CITY; AND AUTHORIZING CONTRACT WITH THE COUNTY FOR <br /> SUCH SERVICES <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Redwood City called a General <br /> Municipal Election to be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2015, for the purpose of the <br /> election of four (4) fulltime Members of the City Council; and <br /> WHEREAS, it is desirable that the General Municipal Election be consolidated <br /> with the Consolidated Municipal, School and Special District Election to be held on the <br /> same date and that within the City the precincts, polling places and election officers of <br /> the two elections be the same, and that the county election department of the County of <br /> San Mateo canvass the returns of the General Municipal Election and that the election <br /> be held in all respects as if there were only one election; and <br /> WHEREAS, in order to perForm such service, the County requires that the City <br /> enter into a contract specifyi�g the services to be performed. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> DOES RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS: <br /> 1. That pursuant to the requirements of § 10403 of the Elections Code, the <br /> Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo is hereby requested to consent and <br /> agree to the consolidation of a General Municipal Election with the Consolidated <br /> Municipal, School and Special District election on Tuesday, November 3, 2015, for the <br /> purpose of the election of four (4) City Council Members for the term of office of four <br /> years each; and that the County Election Department is requested to render services to <br /> the City related to the conduct of the election. <br /> 2. Pursuant to Elections Code section 10002, the City requests that the Board <br /> of Supervisors to permit the County Elections Official to render services as specified in <br /> the County Services Agreement relating to the conduct of the Election. <br /> 3. That the County Elections Department is authorized to canvass the returns <br /> of the General Municipal Election.
