5. SPECIAL ORDERS OF THE DAY <br />A. Proclamation: Fair Oaks Community Center 30 Anniversary (207) <br />Mayor Ira read the proclamation that was received by Fernando Vega and Dorothy <br />Page, original members of the Fair Oaks Citizen's task Force from 30 years ago <br />that helped to build Fair Oaks Community Center. Teri Chin, Human Services <br />Manager at Fair Oaks Community Center reminded everyone to join in the <br />celebration on May 27 from 4 -7 p.m. at the Fair Oaks Community Center. She <br />further thanked the Peninsula Community Foundation and the many community <br />business partners and individuals who have contributed to make the celebration <br />possible. She asked Tish and Carol to be acknowledged as part of volunteers and <br />staff at the community center and planners of the event. <br />B. Proclamation: Seniors in the Community (207) <br />Betty Moran, Chairperson of the Senior Affairs Commission, thanked Council and <br />invited the community to the Senior Center, 780 -7270, on Thursday, May 13 at <br />lunch where guest speaker Supervisor Mike Nevin will be speaking. Bob Page, <br />Chairperson of the Veterans Memorial Senior Center Advisory Council and Linda <br />Griffith, Community Services Manager of the Veterans Memorial Senior Center <br />were also present to receive the proclamation. <br />Chairperson Moran then explained the video being shown was assembled for the <br />American Society on Aging and the National Council on Aging for a site visit after <br />being one of 17 chosen out of 450. The focus of the site visit was being a values <br />driven organization and how the organization, staff and community can come <br />together and build an incredible collaborative effort. <br />6.
