_-YYII� '_._..____ <br /> � • , - RJC.ek 3/30/62-7 <br /> O R D I N A N C E N O. <br /> '��a�� ��'��� <br /> AN ORDINANCE OF T8E CITY �F REDWOOD CI�Y <br /> PROSIBITING BURIALS IN THE CITY OF REDWOO� <br /> CITY . <br /> T►�SEREAS, the City ot Redwood City is a densely populated <br /> urban area, lacking l�xge tracts of nninhabited l.ands available <br /> , <br /> or suitable for cemet�ry uses; and, <br /> t�HEREAS, the interment of human remains in densely populated <br /> areas creates a danger to public health and safety; and, <br /> WHEREAS, Union Cemetery bounded by �r7oodside Road, Poplar <br /> Avenue and Hess Road, in the City of Redwood City, is the only <br /> existing cemetery within the city limits; and, <br /> Wf�REAS, said Union Cemetery is surrounded by a densely <br /> populated commercial and residential area; and, <br /> WHEREAS, said Union Cemetery no longer contains sufficient <br /> area for proper interment of hu�aan remains consistent with public <br /> health and safety; <br /> NCJW, THEREFORE; <br /> THE COULTCIL OF REDWOQD CITY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLL�7S: <br /> SECTION l. It shall be unlawful for any person, associa- <br /> tion, firm, or corporation to bury or inter or cause to be <br /> interred or buried, the dead body of any person in any cemetery, <br /> graveyard, or other public or private place whatsoever wit hin <br /> the limits of the City of Redwood City. <br /> SECTION 2. Any violation or attempted violation of <br /> Section 1 of this ordinance is hereby found and determined to <br /> constitute a public nuisance and the City Council may order �he <br /> same abated or enjoined as such. <br /> SECTIObT 3. Any person, association, firm or corporation <br /> violating any of the p=ovisions of this ordinance shall be guilty <br /> of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be punishable <br /> by a fine not to exceed the sum of five hundred dollars ($500) <br /> � <br /> � <br /> �::; <br /> ��, <br />
