ORAL COMMUNICATIONS
Herb Link, 283 Fulton, Redwood City, asked the Council if the utilities fees used to help
fund the new City Hall were fees on water, sewer, garbage, etc., and asked whether there was
any truth to the rumor that water and sewer charges would be merged. (701)
Mayor Hartnett said the fees on those utilities and others were adopted many years ago to be
used for capital improvement projects only, and the City Hall was one of the capital projects
undertaken by the City to be partly funded by a portion of the utilities fees. Mayor Hartnett
said he was not aware of any plan to merge water and sewer charges.
Mr. Link described the problems with James Street itself, main sewer lines and laterals, and
asked when the City planned to repair them. Mr. Link submitted photos and a petition
supporting the neighbors' requests for immediate action in that area.
--- MINUTE BOOK WOo 54
Page wOo 183
