i
Red
C j' 0811OPIliB
l FOIIRIA001881
FAIR OAKS COMMUNITY CENTER 2600 Middiefield Road
Division of Parks, Recreation Redwood City, CA 94063
and Community Services (650) 780-7500
City of Redwood City Fax (650) 298-8184
Date: June 15, 2004
To: Mayor Ira and Council Members
From: Teri Chin. Human Services Manager
Subject: Human Services Financial Assistance Program Recommendations
As background material for the FY 04-OS Human Service Financial Assistance Program (HSFA)
recommendations included in the Proposed FY 04-OS Budget for the City, I have attached a
listing of the HHCC recommendations as well as a brief summary description of each agency
funding request.
Please note that the HSFA recommendations for FY 04-OS totaling $198,200 represent a 15%
reduction from the FY 03-04 funding level. Additionally, the Housing and Human Concerns
Committee (HHCC) has developed a 7% `'add-back" option that would increase the HSFA FY
04-OS allocation to $211,200.
Should the Council to choose to add-back 7% for HSFA, the changes to the HHCC
recommendations would be as follows:
• Ellipse Peninsula AIDS Services — would receive an additional $3,000 bringing their total
grant to $10,900.
• Boys and Girls Club of the Peninsula/After School Learning Center Programs— would
receive $5,000 instead of $0 funding.
• Sequoia YMCA/Fit Kids Program — would receive $5,000 instead of $0 funding.
In addition to the brief summary description of the agency funding requests, a binder with the full
applications is available for your reference in the Council Study.
